Assuming the Trio and Menuet have different meters, set the first bar of the Trio to Always Hide Time Sig. Then insert the time sig as a meas-attached expression.
(If they are the same meter, then obviously the problem does not arise.)
Well, actually, it does. I was surprised by this, but simply making the meter show (which it should) will also make it show a cautionary.
I guess the expression method is the only easy way out of this.
