Not entirely. Note-attached slurs were added some time before Finale97, and I think by 3.5.x, because I have measure-attached slurs only in the very earliest files that I completed before I acquired WinFin3.5.2. The extra control points, however, were added after WinFin97, if I'm not mistaken, so that would be engraver slurs. So, there were *two* big leaps. Measure-attached slurs are pretty unsatisfactory looking, but the early note-attached slurs are mostly acceptable (most of the hard cases I altered upon entry, such as steep angles, avoidance of accidentals and so forth), though still not as nice as most of the engraver slurs. Of course, engraver slurs still require lots of adjustment in many common cases. That doesn't mean I'd give them up, though! -- David W.
