(The whole issue of the ability to create retro-compatible files is an interesting one. I'm curious why the developers of Finale chose not to take that route. However, for me it's not a big issue. Sibelius does it, but I rarely ever use it.)


To be fair, Sibelius ONLY has added that feature with version 3, and it only includes the option to save in one previous version, version 2, NOT version 1.

So while Sibelius have bowed to customers' wishes to be able to share files with people who haven't upgraded, they still can't share files with EVERYBODY who hasn't upgraded.

And Sibelius readily admits that there are some things which won't be saved when the file is saved in the previous version, so if you need those features (aren't the boomwhacker colored notes one of those features?) in your file, it is still not helpful.
