Well, there's no doubt that Intel chips have higher clock speed ratings. But that doesn't necessarily translate into actual performance improvements in applications. It all depends on where the performance bottleneck is and whether or not the CPU's optimizations help whatever that problem happens to be. On the PC side, there really hasn't been any remarkable difference in any of the 1GHz+ CPUs from an end user point of view, except, perhaps, in the most computationally intense tasks. -- David W.
