An interesting irony is in the listing of features found in Finale 2006, as posted at their web-site:

Export as EPS they claim IS supported, but only in Windows98 and WindowsME.

Garritan Personal Orchestra is supported, but only in WindowsXP (plus Mac, of course).

So we have our choices, have dual boot drives where we can boot into Win98 or WinME and get the graphics we need, then do a system reboot into WinXP and get the sounds we need.

Something similar used to be the case with ProTools LE, the Win version was only 98/ME. Seems to have taken them a while to write the code for XP, which PT LE will now run under. Let's hope MM figures it out eventually. the 98/ME > XP transition was hell on a lot of levels, so I'm not too surprised by the above. I of course am tempted to revile Microsoft once more, but I really don't know jack about what OS and SW writers face, and have to believe that solving, not creating, problems would be in their best business interests, so I keep trying to deal as best I can.
