You don't for going back and forth between those two choices. What about for going back and forth between GPO and some other synthesizer, something other than the Finale Soundfont (hardware or software)? I just can't see how you could possible go back and forth between GPO and a non-Finale synthesizer without needing to make substantial changes to the way expressive playback is controlled. For the things that HP does automatically with GPO, you'd have to define manually for your other synth, but then you'd need to turn that off when you switched to GPO. If you are happy with the non-GPO being inferior in terms of HP, well, I guess you're right (and keep in mind, I'm excluding the Finale Soundfont here, since I don't think that anyone with professional standards would find it satisfactory for any kind of playback except the most rudimentary for proofing). But for people like Dennis, who have a long-term investment in other synthesizer technologies and, presumably, Finale files set up specifically for those output devices, flipping to GPO is not the triviality you say it is. -- David W.
