Sorry about the spelling ... not one of my strong points. As for the
rest, I'm lapping up any optimism on this issue with the same degree
of zeal exibited by a man whose hair is on fire, seeking out a
pond ...to paraphrase Joseph Campbell.

Ok, Mavins ...
From one of the Jews on the list, I think that's "Maven's," but we
get your drift.
I just opened up the HD on my old computer and was looking
around. I Checked the Pref. Folder in Library, and found it was
empty. Would this be expected after I transfered info via
FireWire the other day?

P.S. When Karen suggested my "kernal" problem may well have been
caused by external devices, I did in fact update my Printer
Driver, checked with Edriol's site the see if there was an update
for my MIDI (UM 1), which apparently there is not, and unplugged
my Zip drive. After checking the Iomega site for Driver updates,
I couldn't determine if an update to the 1.0 version I was running
on the old computer was still good or not. Tiger may not even
support the Zip 100 I was running,
Probably not.
I don't know and can't tell from the site. So, it remains
disconnected. The only other external device I was using was an
old set of Apple external speakers I had plugged into the Audio
Output Port ... could that be a prob?
I doubt it.
I also had my UM -1 MIDI coming in via a bus, which I changed to a
direct connection via a USB port on the back of the new G5.
That usually works smoothly and is easy to configure in OS X.
I think that about sums up what I've done in preparation for my
talk with MM Tech tomorrow. Oh, yeah, I just checked the
Application Support Folder>MM Folder, which I opened. The only
thing in there right now is the Fin PA Folder.
Again, my computer seems to be functioning totally normally at the
moment, but I haven't yet given up the dream of running 2006 yet.
I'm sure you'll get there. I think the problems are a result of
the big hardware upgrade and the transfer process. Frustrating as
it is, these things seem to get resolved eventually. So many are
successfully running 2006 on G5s that it surely can be done on yours.
