It was just an example.  I hope that I don't have to make every statement
exhaustive so that you don't have to quibble.  The point is that, Finale
passes the data (Midi or whatever) to system modules that use other common
system resources.

I don't mean to quibble with your underlying point (though I have 
minor reservations about the way you've described it), but you are 
*not* correct that Finale's playback uses Windows Media Player or 
QuickTime. The only way QuickTime could be involved is if you choose 
the QuickTime musical instruments soft synth as your playback device.

In Windows, Finale playback sends MIDI to the MIDI device you've 
chosen to play back with. So far as I know, there is no intermediary 
between Finale and the drivers for the synthesizer.
