Ur, I don't know where to start, but I don't want misleading thread going on and on. First of all, the way DAW works is real-time, meaning file is written to your disk until it stopped by an operator or computer crash. Unless your HD is dead, the data until that point will be there. And it always comes back to the same argument that you don't seems to understand: We _do_ use realtime backup on the job when the client is not the forgiving type because no one could trust nothing. On the other hand, we educate client about the risk when budget is tight. The latest Kronos recording, You've Stolen My Heart (I think) was done with, not PT rig, but Digital Performer, up to 120 tracks... and mind you ProTools is just a freebee app to 20K hardware. Oh, I forgot, Digi started to make money selling PT with M-Powered stuff this year. And this thread made me realized people seems to be trusting computer too much. All of my Finale files, 800MB+ are backup to .Mac every morning automatically. If you don't have backup at two other locations from your workstation, you don't call them backup. One more thing. Even though the bug of loosing data is pretty bad, you can't call it file corruption unless the file cannot be opened without error message. -- - Hiro Hiroaki Honshuku, A-NO-NE Music, Boston, MA <http://a-no-ne.com> <http://anonemusic.com> _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list [email protected] http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
