Yeah, I guess I'll have to look into that ... but, isn't it strange
that my files I created in GPO still play fine?

GPO can be turned on and off under the MIDI menu -- on the Windows
platform the choices you need are:
Play Finale Through Native Instruments VST
and
Native Instruments VST Setup.
But that's not what Dean was asking about.
Dean, somehow, your installation of GPO Finale Edition has gotten
messed up. I recommend reinstalling from the _replacement_ Finale
install DVD you should have received by now.
