Play through Native Instruments - and you should see a place where you can choose either GPO or JABB.  Once that's chosen, there's an edit menu that allows the loading of the instruments to the appropriate channels and then you choose those channels in Finale's instrument list.

Thanks Chuck, but yes I can do it that way -- it is using JABB with the setup wizard that I'm finding difficulty with. Maybe it's not yet implemented in Finale.

John,

I'm pretty sure that's not coming until Finale 2007.  There are at least three software companies involved here, Garritan, Native Instruments, and MakeMusic, and I know that the coordination among the three is time consuming and slows the release of new features.  Gary has indicated as much.

after taking our grandson to see the latest Harry Potter - very good BTW

What did you think of the music?

Big admission - I wasn't paying it any attention.  It must have been doing its job.  Nothing offended me, but I didn't notice anything either.  Sometimes I really don't like movie music, and sometimes I am attracted to it (even to the detriment of the drama - like Diane Reeves' just about perfect jazz singing in "Good Night and Good Luck").  The last one I paid attention to was the title music for a Tom Hanks movie (he played an FBI guy chasing a young con man), the name of which escapes me, which was written by John Williams.  In both of these cases, the music is doing a different job than "underscoring."  Sorry, I feel a little foolish for not having noticed, but the director would be happy that I was too involved in the drama, and with my 9 year old grandson's reactions.

On a parallel subject - much TV music I find OK to horrible, but I'm curious about where CSI found that "Whooooo are you?" song that they use as a theme - my knowledge of pop music has large gaps, - and I recommend checking out the original theme music for "The Medium," which startles me with it's sophistication and beauty.
