No! I have switched it on (automaic update layout). And I found no
special settings that might explain the problem. But I know, even
with automatic layout on, when I print, the printing dialogue box
will only vanish (after hitting ok and printing) when I click once in
the window afterwards. Speaking of bugs... But I guess that's how the
automatic layout works? Even if I don't know any other program where
I have to do an automatic update manually...
As to the irregular spacing and the empty page at the end of parts, I
found no setting that can explain it...
But, I am glad to hear you don't have these problems, so there's hope
left for me...;-)

Nope! I did not change the Default File. The only thing I changed
is in the page sizes file where I put A4 before letter because this
is what we use here in Europe. But - if - Finale will not correctly
interpret the page sizes in every way, this might explain that I
have problems no american user has. Suppose finale still thinks in
letter, some things might go spaced weirdly...
Could it be that you have Automatic Update Layout switched off?
I have a similar setup to yours, ie I have set my default page size
to A4, and I have never seen this problem. There are no blank pages
in my parts.
