First of all, get a bigger screen ;-)
Sorry I don't have any better advice - I don't do this kind of work very
often, and hardly ever with contemporary works.
Use staff sets (get Robert's staff sets plugin to handle them more
efficiently), to make your score easier to work with.
If I was going to do something like this, I would actually sit down and
take notes on various aspects first - number of parts, divisi parts etc.
Then I would first make a score without any notes, but with all the
measures and parts in them (including all double-bars, meters, keys (if
any), make lots of bookmarks, and eventually start filling things in.
