I just had a quick look at the Sibelius demo: it would seem quite easy. You choose create > text > other staff text > figured bass. Then you type in the figures, using Return to put one figure under another or Space to move to the next note. When I tried typing letters, I got things like a figure in brackets or a figure with a natural after it: there are evidently a load of keyboard shortcuts to learn here, but the basic function seems simple and obvious: it took me less than 5 minutes to find it, although I don't know Sibelius.
That does indeed sound quite easy. Hopefully MM had a good look at it, too, and comes out with an improved chord tool which has a similar entry method, plus basic playback of figures (not just a realization plugin, I don't really see the use of that).
I don't expect playback to have much sophistication, I couldn't care less about parallels etc, all I want is an approximation of a basso continuo sound.
The main focus should definitely be on the input method. Johannes -- http://www.musikmanufaktur.com http://www.camerata-berolinensis.de _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list [email protected] http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
