It shouldn't be surprising that fixed do should be faster, since all 
it's really doing is naming the note names, while movable do is a 
process of analysis of scale degree function. That is, there's much 
more going on with movable do than with fixed do, and that's its 
value in the first place. But it's also why it's not going to be as 
easy to learn.
