Some things you can do in Speedy entry but not in Simple:

- insert a note or rest before existing notes
- change all instances of the same pitch enharmonically throughout a measure with one command - raise or lower a pitch by a half-step throughout a measure with one command - choose not to check beaming or accidentals for certain styles of notation - easily edit the extra notes in a measure where there are "too many beats"

I find the possibility of inserting notes very important: I can't understand why there isn't an easy way with Simple to accomplish this. Another important thing for me is the possibility, using "normal" Speedy entry with MIDI, of trying things out on the MIDI keyboard before finally pressing a number key to enter the note or chord.

I find I now switch between Simple and Speedy, since both methods have their strong points.

Best wishes,

Michael Cook

Dean,

I'm jumping in here. As far as I know, there's no longer any advantage to Speedy Entry (except for me, because it's what I know, and learning new ways of operating Finale can be painful), and Simple Entry has some distinct advantages (dynamics and articulations can be added in the note entry process without switching tools).
