Dennis,

I've never stuck with any automated/plugin setting for this as it is quicker to do it yourself. You have much more control and it's bug free = less time and paper wasted on someone else's idea that hasn't even been tested properly.

Here are my thoughts:

If you think about it, any booklet printing needs to be a multiple of 4 pages. I find that sometimes you need to add a few blank pages at the end of a score to 'round up' the numbers or you can expand the layout a little to fit. I try to finish on a R.H. page so the last blank page acts as a protective back cover to the score booklet.

I made up charts below so I can quickly select the grouping of total pages. I paste the number sequence onto the first page of the score and from Text tool/menu select <Show only on screen>. From there you can cut and paste into the finale print dialogue each time you need to print.

My Finale page setup is at A3, 100% Landscape orientation L. to R. The score pages are at A4 size. I  save the print settings on my HP 5000n and use short edge binding for the duplexing, although you do still need to select 2 up in the Finale print dialogue (and remember to deselect it afterwards!). With the order of page numbers below the score comes out exactly in order to be just simply folded and stapled.

I find that to get accurate and even margins for each page you need to change the layout settings in Finale so the margins are farther left and right on thier respective pages, otherwise after folding, systems will not be centered evenly to the new folded page, but this can go into the score template settings.

Hope this helps.

Jonathan

I'm trying to use the "Print booklet" Finalescript (Fin2004) with an 8-page score (A4>folded A3), and have the following to problems:

1) Finale prints two identical copies of the score instead of one (the second of which I can cancel, of course)

2) What I should get is four A3 pages with the following layout:

8-1

2-7

6-3

4-5

What I do get is:

1-8

2-7

3-6

4-5

On the other hand, the script

print 2-up "8;1;2;7;6;3;4;5"

does work.

Any ideas?
