To the wisdom of the list,
Well . . . . we sort of had a accident here. In a moment of gross inattention I deleted my copy of WinFin 2004b plus files in progress and related items. Fortunately all the job file stuff is backed up on external disks. The CD for 2004 is sitting here. I guess I downloaded the b upgrade. I can't find a disk for it
I can get to the 2004b folder via Windows Explorer. All I find is three TIFF files. I have been through the Norton Recycle Bin numerous times and found a few odds and ends from the drive that held Finale.
What must I do to get 2004b back? In this sort of thing I have no understanding or expertise at all.
Your guidance is most appreciated.
I'm not sure I understand the problem correctly.
If you only accidentally deleted PROGRAM files, then just do a complete reinstall from the CD, then download the updater and install that. If you accidentally deleted your registration permission somehow (I think it is hidden, so you probably didn't trash it), then just email MakeMusic inside of 30 days and let them know what happened, and they will give you another one. They are very good about this, I find.
This is a LOT easier than searching for deleted files, which you may or may not end up copying back to the correct location. Let the installer take care of all those messy details, and it will all be over with in about ten minutes.
It sounds like you didn't lose any job files, and that is the irreplaceable stuff. You must be happy that you have a proper backup system in place!
