Not surprising. He is anything but easy to please from everything I've ever heard about him. I also have this impression from reading between the lines of his own commentary in, e.g., Dangerous Visions. Biographical articles from any source are frequently uncomplimentary.
I suspect mainstream encyclopedias also contain many factual errors. And I also know they are far more difficult to correct than Wikipedia. No one would argue Wikipedia is the last word. But it seems arguably as or more reliable than many other encyclopedias. I think this is the only standard by which we can judge it.
I agree that it must be quite aggravating if he can't correct his own birthday. But I bet it eventually will be correct.
