Saur can copyright the images themselves -- not their content, which can be
copied out by hand or transcribed by an OCR program. As one who sells
photos of public domain objects to cable producers and magazines (CNN, BBC,
Travel, Discovery, National Geographic and even Weekly World News), I know
full well how carefully they approach the distinction.
