Darcy,

Thanks for the email on Don. I emailed him last night and here is his slightly edited reply ...

Mark,

Use the Mac GO menu to browse your way to my public iDisk folder
DonRice1
no password needed
grab the fonts from there

or as an alternate route from Windows or Mac surf to
grab the fonts from there

Mac fonts have been updated for OSX
Windows fonts are iffy. If I recall correctly I did update the Title font last year for a job (used to be GoldenAge WP) but the other Win fonts will prob need tweaking before using in the current Windows Operating system

is Henry Howey still running the Finale board at SHSU? Is that where you have been discussing fonts like GA? trying to remember those days

I am offering GoldenAge freely "as is" to all so long as it remains free. I retain final ownership of course. At the moment I cannot provide support.

Good luck and please inform your online community. Thanks to all of you who have supported GoldenAge.

Regards
Don Rice
New York City

Best to all,
Mark

Hi Bob,

Don's can be reached at <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>. However, I don't know if he's selling or supporting Golden Age any longer.

After many years’ hiatus, I find myself getting back into the music biz, but I am unable to locate a faithful old friend, namely the Golden Age typeface created by Donald Rice.  I was unable to find much info on the web, and have so far received no response from Mr. Rice with the email addresses I have.

I had purchased the font (probably in 1996 or so) but I’m sure it was on a floppy – which was long ago lost.  I’ve updated computers several times in the interim of course.

Does anyone have any further info on this family of typefaces?  Specifically, I’d like to purchase the most recent revision somewhere.

FYI, if you’ve never seen Golden Age set music – it is the most easily readable music I’ve ever seen come out of Finale or any other music publishing software.  The closest I think you can come electronically to a good professional copyist (which Don Rice is.)
