Not really. The hardware requirements are basically the same across the board -- fill rate, number of shaders, and so on. A high-end graphics card on PC will also deliver high-end performance on a Mac.

Anyway, I was just trying to be fair. The price differential is actually much more favorable towards the Mac if you don't upgrade the video card on either machine (they both come with stock 256 MB cards).

Likewise, on the subject of wireless networking, on Mac, Bluetooth is
the standard, on PC, 802.11a/b/g.

No, that's not true. Bluetooth is just for peripherals -- wireless mice and keyboards, and synching cell phones. Macs still use 802.11b/ g for wireless networking (Bluetooth is *much* too slow for that purpose). Weirdly, every Mac except the Mac Pro has both Bluetooth and 802.11b/g (i.e. "AirPort Extreme") standard.

Macs have had a longstanding reputation for being "overpriced"
compared to PC manufacturers like Dell, but back when Apple was using
PowerPC chips, head-to-head comparisons were impossible. Now that
everyone is using Intel chips and you can spec out essentially
identical configurations for both, it turns out that, at least in
this particular case, the Mac is $550 cheaper than the Dell. That's
news to a lot of people.

The fact that I could buy a semi tractor trailor truck from Apple for
less than I could buy it from Dell is of no interest to me if I don't
*need* a semi tractor trailor truck.

Well, obviously. But the point here is that for years, people have been saying that Apple's semitrailers are overpriced compared to Dell's semitrailers, but direct comparisons were impossible. Now that direct comparisons *are* possible, it turns out that Apple's semitrailers are considerably less expensive than Dell's semitrailers.
