Thanks for that info. I'll stop using them from now on.

Aside from the third-party plugin issues you mentioned, they were also very
useful for repairing damaged files since they were plain ASCII. It wasn't
fun, but a misdirected pointer could be fixed by hand. Saving and loading
files also magically cured other glitches.

I started to order, but canceled just before the order confirmation. I
decided to wait to see how the parts deal actually works out in pratice. (I
wasn't really satisfied with part extraction and got out of the habit of
using it, preferring to save several identical copies of the score and then
delete unwanted staves.)

So reports of linked parts success and failure are most welcome, especially
in new nonpop scores with special requirements.

It does look like 2007 is still measure-bound.
