Why would it not be completely possible for any scores lacking
multiple parts on one line, say a string quartet?

I understand perfectly that creating parts for orchestra or band
works is by definition more work simply because there are more parts,
and the number of parts is one reason you double things up in the
score (only *one* of the reasons, though), but for music that doesn't
double up independent parts into one staff, won't linked parts in a
single file work just fine?

I've never even once created any Finale file for which I needed to
make parts that had more than one line per staff, so *all* of my
projects would be easier with linked parts.
