Here is one way I just worked out:
To do this you need to use a staff style -- you'll need to define a new
style and under Independent Elements put a check next to Notehead Font
and click the Select button and then change to the notehead font you
wish to use (Maestro Percussion, in your example). Then assign that
staff style to the measures you wish to change.
Then when you go to the MassEdit, Change, Noteheads dialog you'll still
be shown the Maestro font character set so you'll need to know which
slot in Maestro Percussion holds the notehead you wish to use. Simply
select the appropriate character slot (ignore what the program shows
you, which is why you need to know in advance which slot holds the
character you wish to use) and when you click OK you'll be returned to
the staff with the appropriate character for the notehead change.
Convoluted? you bet! Any different from what we would have to do in
Fin2006? not that I can see.
Why can't we simply change to a different font from within the
MassEdit/Change/Noteheads dialog? Goodness only knows.
