Stan,
Go to the instrument list window, pick the offending staff and there
will be a mute selection on the left. You can also do this in studio
or mixer view. It's not hard. Look in any of these places and
you'll find a mute "switch".

I've done a wind band arrangement which involves some clapping.
To notate the clapping I entered the notes of the bass (16va with
my required rhythm, not the same as the bass) then used the staff
style for rhythmic notation.
Of course, during playback, I can hear these notes - which I don't
want to!
How can I mute the bits with the clapping notation?
