The only non-free fonts I have are Adobe, so I have no way of checking if other professional fonts from other providers use the same system.
Not too long ago, I upgraded my Corel Office suite, and the fonts included was a significant reason for my doing so. Corel includes licenses to a large number of fonts in the packages, and while they will work with any software installed with my OS, the fine print of the license seems to preclude their use for lyrics--the licenses are specific for use with the Corel Suite. However, while I may not use the fonts for lyrics if I do the Cover, title page, and editorial and performance notes in Finale, there is no reason I can't do those items in Wordperfect using the fonts, and then do just the music in Finale. The same principle probably applies with M$ Word, too.
