I'm working on cleaning up a chart I recently got, and aomng the chords is "A +7 -9". Any idea what might be meant by this? The chart consistently uses "-" for "flat" and "+" for sharp, but ... "#7"???

It was most likely intended as A aug 7 (b9), but as I always insist a
chord name must dictate the scale, it should had been spelled as A7 (b9,
b13), which dictates Mixo b9th, b13th scale used for secondary dominant
in a diatonic harmony. This isn't limited to jazz, by the way.

F, B, Eb, G, Bb (bottom to top).

This chord is G7(#9, b13) on 7th, or there won't be associated chord
scale for it :-)

These make sense. I really wish more people could/would agree pon standard ways to notate chords!

I think I'll use the ... I'll play it both ways, and see which one sounds more in synch with what else is going on with the tune.

Thanks, everyone!
