Personally I would either put 8va sempre at the top of each page, or at each
section or rehearsal mark. Either will obviate the problem to which you
allude.

Subject: [Finale] 8va sempre

Hi all,

I'm working with a piece in which the piano has a 3.5 bar phrase
repeated for 100 bars or so, and the whole 100 bars are marked 8va.
Rather than stretching an 8va smartshape out for that entire length,
what do you think about just putting '8va sempre' at the beginning
and then 'loco' when the passage is over? Or is there some other
standard way of indicating a really long 8va passage?

I understand that this could lead to confusion if rehearsal started
in the middle of the passage, but since the parts are for my use only
this might be a chance I'm willing to take.

Thanks,
Aaron.
