For a friend, I need to find (in the next two hours) two pieces of music, one that could be characterised as being "open", the other one as being "closed". Genre doesn't matter. Can anyone help me and her?
the concept of open and closed can be applied to both works from varying perspectives, depending on one's interpretation of the terms, which aspects of the works or context in which the works were composed / performed / defined as representative works of an era, and one's intention in even attempting to address the inherently complex and very problematic nature of the terms...
