A few thoughts on the recent postings: All programs have bugs. We the users must keep at the company to fix them. They know that we matter.
If the program came out early to compete with Sibelius new version, good. Better that Finale stays in the market than we the users have to port all our files over to Sibelius or whatever program. Case in point: I started in 88 with Motus Composer. When they stopped development of Composer, moved to Mosaic. Mosaic wasnt usable till version 3. When Motu stopped development of Mosaic, I was left with large projects in that program. Migrated to Finale a year ago, with 07 version. Took me three months to learn the program. Steep learning curve. Upon discovering QuckKeys, the program became usable. A note on Sibelius: When I was trying to decide between Finale & Sibleilus a year ago (the scroll view in Finale made it a no brainer), I found the Sibelius downloadable demo to be useless as there was no manual. Contacting tech support, they were not at all helpful. In fact, I found them to have quite the attitude. Furthermore, they told me that Sibelius only updates every two years with no incremental updates. I was really surprised to hear that. I have found Finales tech support to be pretty good all in all. Conclusion: changing programs is very much leaving one woman for another. Its rarely better, just different. Updates, fixes will follow this impromptu release. Finale wants to stay in the game. And I certainly hope they do. I am looking forward to the new power under Simple Edit. Sounds like it will be more like the programs I migrated from. I.e. Motus Composer & Mosaic. E.g. To drag and copy, paste, cut should be a blessing. Constantly changing menus was a drag.
