Hello,

Once again, tapping the collective wisdom of the list on something slightly off-topic:

When I choose Quicktime for playback (instead of GPO or Smartmusic Smartsynth), I get a program freeze. This is with FinMac 2007. I was doing this with OS 10.4.8 and Quicktime 7 Pro. I got a message immediately when starting playback that Finale was out of memory -- then the freeze. Now, with 10.4.10 and the latest QT update, I just get the freeze, along with a weird partial window. (Staff in the upper LH corner). Then, when I click on the weird window, Finale crashes. This is absolutely consistent. Happens every time.

Hunting around, I also have noticed that I cannot play .mid files. They used to be connected to the Quicktime Music Synthesizer sounds. When I try to play a MIDI file, it looks like it is playing, but there is no sound. I seem to be missing the QT Music Synthesizer? Isn't this bundled with Quicktime these days? I just downloaded the whole QT player to update it, and this still happens.

Does anyone have any ideas?

David Froom
