The organ was tuned to appr. 465 Hz, which works out a whole tone above

IIn Leipzig however, the strings were tuned a tone below the organ,
which was also the pitch of the wind. The organ part was written out a
tone lower.
Thus the organ functioned as a transposing instrument.
