First off, Office 2007 is not just for Vista -- it also runs on WinXP (though no earlier versions of Windows). And there is an easily downloadable converter for reading and writing the new .docx files in older versions of Word (well, Office 2000, XP and 2003 -- Office 97 users are out of luck, but, well, Office 97 was released in 1996!). It's called the Compatibility Pack and can be downloaded here (all on one line): http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=941B3470- 3AE9-4AEE-8F43-C6BB74CD1466&displaylang=en I'm shocked that people are so ill-informed that they'd just reject these file formats when the converters are so easily available for so many different versions of Word. -- David W.
