With all this discussion about pdf, is there a free pdf program for the Mac that I can download, one that is reliable, easy to use, and good quality program, specifically so that I can create a pdf from Finale? I have Adobe Reader on my mac, so I can read pdfs, but I can't create a pdf at present.

All OSX versions have a PDF creator as part of the print dialogue. Print as normal, but look for the little button in the last window at the bottom left marked "PDF". Select "Save as PDF" and hit OK. Done.

Some people tell me that this PDF creator doesn't have some of the features of Acrobat (like hotlinks) but for making parts and sending them off to clients it can't be beat. I was worried about resolution, but apparently for normal font characters the engine saves the PostScript description, more like a map than like an image, so that it can be rescaled with no jaggies. I have had no problems (except one client had Windows 98 which wouldn't render it the new PDF version properly. But he upgraded!)

If you have imported images in your scores, then there might be an issue, but then you would if you were using another distiller as well.

Is there a reason why the built-in Mac PDF writer isn't good for you? Let me know, as I would like to be aware of any issues.
