So I'm happy to amend my statement to "nearly" every word in every
language comes from a prior language. The only exceptions are the
relatively rare neologisms and the primordial, mythical First
Language.
Thanks for the clarification -- that sound you hear is understanding
breaking through my sometimes thick skull. :-)
