My FinMac2008 crashes very often at its start up on both G5 and MBP2.4,

the backup pref file. It is my routine now.

Is is just me, or have we all become way too complacent to the point where we just accept these "features" from Make Music? I don't use Finale 2008 because it's too buggy and unstable, corruption-laden, and too many long-standing shortcomings have gone unfixed and unacknowledged. For the most part, Finale 2007 works on my system, but it does the unexpectedly quit dance every time I quit the application. And I can't get MM to even answer an email about it. This to me is completely unacceptable from a "professional" piece of software and the company that brings it to market.

By the way, a while ago I tried to help a few people who are having
FinMac crash on startup at HAL level on MIDI driver. Later I learned
this is caused by using Migration assistant. If you used it to copy
over AMS file from your old system, Finale doesn't like it.

Now this is interesting. I recently upgraded from a G5Quad to a new MacPro, and did the migration assistant routine. Over the ensuing 4 weeks my main user account got so FUBAR that my whole work routine came to a screeching halt. Even creating a new user account was only marginally successful. 6 hours on the phone with Apple's tech support (boy those guys ARE REALLY patient!!) typing UNIX commands in Terminal couldn't solve the issues. I finally got fed up, backed up the main drive, reformatted, zeroed out, and started over. No problems since. This is the 4th time I've use MA when moving to a new OS X version, from OS 9 to Jaguar, Jaguar to Panther, Panther to Tiger, and Tiger to Leopard. And each time I used MA to hopefully save time. And each time I had massive user account issues. I will NEVER use MA again, no matter what anyone says.
