I do a lot of big-band and pit orchestra work and I have the following expression categories, each saved in a separate library: Mutes - includes expression like Cup, Straight, Harmon, Hat, In Stand, OPEN, etc and sometimes the patch change to get the sound. Doubles - includes To Flute, To Clar, To Alto Sax etc. and Flute, Clar., Alto, etc . The first expression is where the key sig/transposition changes and patch change on the second. I have almost all the doubles possible included in this library as is a pain to lookup the patch change for each instrument for my MIDI rig (mostly external) Change from Contra-Bassoon to Sopranino Recorder anyone? Harp - all of the pedal layouts for common scales and arpeggios. I only load this library if I am using Harp. Performance - this has all the standard stuff for performance indications, Solo, Soli, Ad Lib, No Vib, Vib, Lead, End of Solo, Growl, Unis, w/Sax, etc. Strings - special bowings. Arco, Pizz (one set for each Vln, Vla, Cello, Bass) col legno, Divisi, spicatto, Detache, (2) (3) (4) for indicating the number of players on divisi, etc Percussion - like the doubles library but for all the orchestral and pit type percussion. Both in English and Gent Icons with patches. Handbells - I don't use this very often but when you need it you don't want to spend 15 min looking through your fonts for the martellato lift icon. I have the usual Dynamics, Tempo, and Rehearsal categories that I use without too many changes from the defaults.
