Problem about changing screen resolution is, that MacBook has its maximum resolution as its default. And you need more pixels to see the disappeared box.
There may be yet another solution. If you still have your previous system, open a Finale file there, drag the dialogue box to the center of the first page, close and save, move to the MacBook, and there place the dialogue box where you want it.
