The only benefit of 64-bit for Finale on Windows would be, I think,
in allowing larger soundsets to be loaded into memory because of the
larger memory address space.

I don't know exactly how Finale interacts with the sound player -- if
it's actually compiled with links to the player, then Finale has to
be 64-bit to get the memory benefit. But if it's just a loose link,
where Finale passes off data to the player, there's no real need for
both sides to be 64-bit.

Anybody have any ideas on that?

Remember, for instance, that Microsoft recommends that the vast
majority of users of Office 2010 should install the 32-bit version,
as the benefits the 64-bit version offers are often outweighed by the
incompatibilities it introduces. If that's the case for Microsoft's
flagship product, I can't quite see the benefit in going 64-bit with
Finale (unless it's a matter of the linking at compile time with the
sound player).
