I would do this:

Choose Time Signature Tool.
click on the first measure of the region you want to affect.
Set the time signature to 4/4.
choose "More Choices"
click "Use a Different Time Signature for Display"
click "Composite"
enter the number 4 in the first box on the top line, the number 2 in the
second box.
enter the number 4 in the first two boxes on the bottom line.
It should display 4/4 + 2/4 as the time signature now.
Click OK

By default, a plus sign should appear in between the time signature. The
plus implies that it's 4/4 and 2/4 within one measure (in other words 6/4
time), but I don't think you want that. In that case, you need to omit that
plus sign.

Go to
Document Options - Time Signature
At the bottom of the options given, click Composite Time Signature Plus Sign
Character: Score
Choose character slot 202, that will omit the plus, but will still keep a
space, so it doesn't look like 42/44 time.
Do the same for how you want the character to appear in the parts.
Click OK.

You'll have to set the time signature change for each measure in this
passage, and hide the time signatures using the Measure Tool.

Good luck.
