I have 5,400. The bug shows up with a large number of fonts. This is my main machine for music, graphics and publishing, so it's loaded up. This is the only program that exhibits the problem. Even old programs I'm still using (like Pagemaker) don't have the issue. And the problem only affects expressions & such -- not lyrics or text blocks. Here's the symptom (Finale 2010 and 2011): Create, edit, or duplicate/edit a an expression (can be any kind, not just text). Finale freezes for about 10 seconds while it loads the font list (I'm guessing that's what's going on) and then for each character typed, it freezes before showing the cursor again. A backspace causes the same wait, as does moving the cursor with the arrow keys. As I said, this bug was acknowledged by tech support in Finale 2010. Apparently they hadn't seen it because their machines don't do serious work other than Finale. But even knowing it, they didn't fix it in Finale 2011. You can imagine it makes Finale incredibly frustrating. And unloading and reloading 5,000 fonts for each Finale session to get around the bug is absurd.
