I can do the whole thing in score view. I have the whole rest esp set to
auto-position in the center of the measure, and I can hop it up or down
with clicks as needed. I also have it on a metatool for quick entry. I only
have to apply one staff style in score view: Hide Cue (Blank Layer 4 with
rests). Your method (if I read it right) seems to require applying one
style to score and another to part. Mine only requires the one to score.

I would love to figure out how to have a style metatool apply only to
score. Right now I am using the metatool then selecting clear-from-parts
from the context menu.
