can anyone tell me what this could be useful for? why would you want the actual instruments to be different than in the score?
-- from the manual: Unlink All Instruments in This Part. This check box is available when viewing a part (Document > Edit Part > [Part]). With this command checked, changes made to the staff settings below (clef, transposition, etc.) will apply only to the current part. The respective staff or staves in the score will be unaffected. Uncheck this box to revert to score staff settings for all staves in the current part.
