I did not change any settings in staff styles. I looked at the definitions and I don't see anything that involved articulations at all. There are options to display or suppress chords text and some other elements, but not articulations. I don't think it would ever make sense for articulations to show through, other than perhaps a fermata or cessura. Certainly having accents and staccatos show through slash notation makes no sense.
