i have checked and reset the location several times. i also just reindexed my disk and did a search with spotlight, only the file i placed in the "right" folder showed up and it was last modified 2 days ago. it could be that the file that reopens after a crash is the last save (as chuck suggested), but last time it crashed was in fact during the auto-save function, so i couldn't tell. in any case, the file has to be somewhere, maybe hidden and spotlight can<t find it or something. weird.
