I also tried using tracking, with the rest and the staff in the expression dialog. That works great in overlapping the rest and staff (with -750 evpus), but then I have to use baseline shift to place the rest correctly. Unfortunately, baseline shift seems to wipe out any effect of the tracking setting. Maybe jef has some magic formula for getting those staff lines to appear (other than shape designer, which I'm heading for next).
