I asked about the editor because some people, including myself, had problems
with extraneous characters in config files if a mac editor was used.
Obviously that's not it.

2 more questions:

1)  .cshrc is in your home directory, right (just for completeness)
2)  Do you have a .tcshrc in your home directory?
