Man, you are great!! Thanks so much to everyone who have contributed to my
question. I now have everything working as I had envisioned:

    Gnome working
    Sawfish working
    Program going

When Thoughts... told me before to put exec gnome-session at the end of my
.xinitrc file, I could not get it to work. I know realized that I did not
have everything that I need of Gnome. Now I do, this command line works!!
