Are there often incidences of corrupted tarballs? I'm trying to
install gnuplot which needs aquaterm. On attempting "fink install
gnuplot", I see the following:

============
mkdir -p /sw/src/aquaterm-0.3.0a-4
tar -xvzf /sw/src/aquaterm-0.3.0a.tar.gz

gzip: stdin: not in gzip format
tar: Child returned status 1
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
### tar failed, exit code 2
Unpacking the tarball aquaterm-0.3.0a.tar.gz of package aquaterm-0.3.0a-4
failed. The most likely cause for this is a corrupted or incomplete download.
============

What are my options? I tried creating a file, tar'd it and got it
back out successfully. I tried StuffIt Expander on
aquaterm-0.3.0a.tar.gz and it reported probable corruption. Is there
a way to find and specify an alternate?
